The child within us
Africa is central in this composition. It is often considered as the cradle of man, with its rich culture, full of symbolic rituals. One of that is ‘scarification’ which has an esthetic, religious or social significance. In African culture scarification is considered a sign of pride, not shame. In a woman’s life it marks milestone stages, like the birth of a child. The red color and its varieties are never far away in this mysterious continent with its subdued, orange-colored sunsets. To the African people the red color symbolizes the blood of the earth, the essence of life.
