MioMia’s vision on sustainability

As a brand, we realize that with the creation of products comes great responsibility. We believe good business is investing in sustainable, responsible solutions. Together with our manufacturing partners, we strive towards reducing the footprint of our textile creations.
The fabric always comes first
Eager to contribute to the preservation of the planet, Christel Guinée approaches her quest for authentic textile creations with great respect for all natural sources. Therefore, we only make framed textiles and cushions in specific, well-thought-out dimensions, reducing textile waste to an absolute minimum.
Made in Belgium on demand
Sustainability is one of MioMia’s key drivers, which is why we only create pieces on demand and keep our production 100% local. All MioMia creations are "made to order" in Antwerp by dedicated MioMia artisans.
Oeko-Tex & European origin
MioMia offers a collection that is largely manufactured from European OEKO-TEX certified materials. The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is a health quality mark for textile, with strict requirements for residues of heavy metals, harmful dyes and pesticides.
All fabrics originate from Europe, where working conditions meet strict requirements. There is no forced or child labor involved.
Responsible feathers
The inner cushions of the cushions bearing the MioMia label are filled with feathers as standard. They provide its owner the opportunity to sink deep into it. MioMia cushions feel wonderfully cuddly and have a unique weight-to-heat ratio. Feather filling is light and warm. Therefore, relatively little filling is needed for good insulation. Moreover, feathers, unlike synthetical fillings, are biodegradable.
MioMia items are filled with duck and geese feathers from The Netherlands. The feathers that are used, all carry the ‘Responsible Down Standard’ label. Under no circumstances ducks or geese are plucked alive, they’re not force-fed, and they have sufficient food, clean drinking water and freedom of movement at all times. Needless to say, we only use feathers of ducks and geese that are used for meat consumption. Annual checks of the farmers keep them on their toes. Every time down and feathers change owners, their origin is checked and verified by the label.
